THE ART OF FLÂNERIE: DISCOVERING PARIS ON FOOT" THE ART OF FLÂNERIE: DISCOVERING PARIS ON FOOT"

The term "flâneur" was popularized by French poet Charles Baudelaire, who described the flâneur as a keen observer of the city's streets, capturing its essence and beauty through leisurely walks. By embracing the art of flânerie, visitors can discover hidden gems, experience the local culture, and enjoy the city's unique atmosphere.

To become a true flâneur in Paris, let go of strict itineraries and allow yourself to wander through its enchanting neighborhoods. Explore charming cobblestone streets, stop by a quaint café for a leisurely coffee, or sit on a park bench and watch the world go by.

What about you? Are you a flâneur person or you have a tight tourist schedule?)

THE UNIQUE ORIGIN OF PARIS' NICKNAME, 'CITY OF LIG THE UNIQUE ORIGIN OF PARIS' NICKNAME, 'CITY OF LIGHTS

While many people might assume that the nickname "City of Lights" refers to the city's beautiful nighttime illumination, it actually has a deeper meaning.

The name first emerged during the Age of Enlightenment (17-18th century), when Paris became a hub for intellectuals, philosophers, and artists who sought to spread ideas of progress and liberty.

Additionally, Paris was one of the first cities in the world to adopt street lighting, further enhancing its reputation as a beacon of light and innovation.

THE STORY BEHIND PARIS' ICONIC BOOKSTORE, SHAKESPE THE STORY BEHIND PARIS' ICONIC BOOKSTORE, SHAKESPEARE AND COMPANY

Nestled in the heart of Paris, Shakespeare and Company is an iconic English-language bookstore with a rich history and a unique connection to the city's literary scene. Let's explore the story behind this beloved Parisian institution.

Founded by American George Whitman in 1951, Shakespeare and Company quickly became a hub for expatriate writers and artists, including luminaries such as Allen Ginsberg, William S. Burroughs, and Anais Nin. The bookstore was named in honor of the original Shakespeare and Company, which was owned by Sylvia Beach and served as a gathering place for famous authors like Ernest Hemingway and James Joyce during the 1920s.
Shakespeare and Company is more than just a bookstore; it's also a haven for aspiring writers and travelers. For decades, the shop has offered a unique "Tumbleweeds" program, allowing guests to sleep among the books in exchange for a few hours of work each day and a commitment to read and write during their stay.

Shakespeare and Company is a testament to the enduring power of literature and the magic of Paris as a city of inspiration and creativity. Stay tuned for more fascinating stories and fun facts about the City of Love!

I know you have lately seen lots of scary images f I know you have lately seen lots of scary images from Paris.
Yes, we have trash problems: collectors are still on strike. And manifestations happen in some parts of the city, but if u stay in touristic center, 99% chance you won’t meet them. And even if you do, it’s not dangerous- people are just using their right of speech. Of course, as in all public events there can be some assholes, who can try to make damage: to burn trash cans or break shop windows. But if you are not participating in this riot and just going your own way without dividing into the protesters center- you will be all right!:)
I was walking in the center of Paris all day yesterday. All as usual:) So if you hesitate weather you should come to Paris this year or next, my advice: next year would be much worse price wise/crowds wise and traffic wise (they propose to close lots of parts of the city for the cars). So don’t hesitate:) When else could you sit in parisian cafe and enjoy the view of 2weeks storage of garbage bags🤪😂
